To detect and correct errors in their computer game.
To use iterative development techniques to improve their game. I can create a quiz using Kodu.
I can build algorithms to create a simple game.
I can detect bugs and fix them.I can change the landscape and Kodu objects to make my quiz unique
All children should be able to:
1 – Open the Sencolewis.co.uk website
2 - Watch the introduction video
3 - Download and open the sencolewis quiz 1 Kodu programme in the Community area
Most Children should be able to:
Complete 1 - 3
4 - Create a repeated algorithm using the example as a starting point
5 - Work in pairs to duplicate the algorithm
Some Children should be able to:
Complete 1 - 5
6 - Debug their algorithm
7 - Share their quiz and play quiz algorithms of other people
Teacher Notes:
Ask the children what computer games they play. Ask them to describe the algorithms these games are based on.
Show children an example of an online game:
e.g. angry birds.
Why are these games fun to play?
Tell the children that over the next 6 weeks they are going to create their own games. Group the children in pairs.
Ask the children to think about the structure for their game. What is the objective? What sort of player is it intended for? What will happen in the game? Is there any progression built into the game. Explain that they need to keep their ideas simple.
