All children should be able to:
1 – Open the Sencolewis.co.uk
website
2 - Play the Scratch duckshoot game
Most Children should be able to:
Complete 1 - 3
4 - Examine the code and predict the what types of algorithm are needed to make the parts work.
- Make the duck wings flap by adding code.
5 – Have an understanding of PEGI age restrictions & the reasoning behind themSome Children should be able to: (Greater Depth activities)
Complete 1 - 5
6 – Explain the effects of excessive computer game playing on their health and behaviourHave you noticed how many computer games involve shooting things?
Duckshoot was an early example, but there are many more recent examples. Do any of you play this sort of game?

Show pupils the Duckshoot Scratch game. Ch to work out how to change direction and how to fire. Can the high score be reset?
Ask ch to play the game. How have the algorithms been programmed?
In whole class discussion, make and test predictions about the algorithms needed. Can they work out how the gun moves? Arrow flies? Scoring system? How can the duck change colour and how can the new code make the wings flap?
How can the game be improved?
