Experienced professional


I am a qualified teacher and have been teaching literacy for over 21 years in mainstream secondary, primary  and special school settings within Birmingham.

SENCo

I am a qualified school SENCo
(Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator).  Every school requires a named SENCo to deliver and lead the structural organisation of resources and interventions to pupils identified with specific levels of need, by providing solutions to overcome barriers.

School Leadership

Further to  my MSc in teaching children with autism and other qualifications, I also regularly lead within my school setting and gained NPQSL deputy head-teacher qualifications.  I support pastoral care and lead multi-agency meetings to support children and families in my setting.  Ofsted have noted my significant impact in supporting children with SEN, reducing in-school variation and being a leader of positive change.

About SENCo Lewis videos


I have made a variety of Phonics, Maths and SEL video which I and my subscribers use in everyday lessons.  Many of my parents use these videos with their children to support their learning, parents of children with English as an additional language have also found the videos useful.
  
The HF and Ph videos are based upon a successful evidenced based phonics approach called Direct Instruction.  It is a method I have utilised in my setting to successfully establish the learning of initial letters sounds and blends.  These are the building blocks used to make up words for our pupils who have significantly high levels of need who require intensive strategies to "close the gap" to meet age expected educational targets within both literacy and the other curriculum subjects where literacy skills need to be applied to access the content.

Having taught in both affluent and inner-city schools, I have a long history of teaching a wide variety pupils from diverse backgrounds.  I enjoy teaching and leading others to teach using  a variety ofsuccessful, evidenced based interventions shown in my educational videos and forthcoming apps.
