Kodu Programming - Lesson 5- Y5/Y6

Racing Fun! - Lesson Learning Objectives:  

  1. To revisit computer suite routines & Tuesday lunchtime computer club / Golden Tickets.
  2. To find lesson 5 on the sencolewis website.
  3. To follow Kodu - Use "Kodu Racing Games video tutorial  and investigate "Tutorial 03 v01" example.
  4. To learn how to programme the Kodu motorcycle to race - changing the "Global Settings " for speed etc. 
  5. To change the terrain based on our lesson 3 learning.
  6. To introduce online Self assessment / saving work and screenshots.

Kodu Tutorial 5 - Programming a racing game

All children should be able to:

A - Find designated computer in the computer suite

B - Follow Kodu lesson tutorial 5 - drawing a racing track and programme the cycle to navigate the course

C - Design a race track with changing terrain colours

D - Add a racer and programme it

E - Play the game

discuss/ share with class - self assessment.


Most Children should be able to:

Complete 1-3

F-  Programme changing landscape and hills to add interest to the track

G - Add a second racer

H - Add a path for the second racer to follow

I - Programme the second racer to follow the path


Some Children should be able to:

J – add a castle and finish / winner coding


Ext:

K - Add other objects to bump into which lead to "talking"

Show your parents how to code "racing game" programming!

This simple code allows you to control your bike - go to global settings to increase overall speed and turning ability

Add this code to your bike and later the drone's bike so that you know who the winner is!

This allows the "drone" bike to follow the course so that you can race against it
